Russia is the federal presidential parliamentary republic, located in northern hemisphere of continent Eurasia. A temperate climate dominates on the territory. The population of the country is about 145 millions and 200 thousands in 2006. Russia is the multinational country; over 180 nationalities live on its territory. They speak more than in 100 languages and dialects. The Russia’s history is many-sided and difficult. It started in X century when Russian grand dukes consolidated many separated states located between two large rivers Volga and Oka. Thus way Moscow principality was formed. Extensive acres rich in minerals and woods always belonged to Russia that’s why many other states wanted to take possession of its riches and waged aggressive wars. But Russian soldiers could protect their own country.

As one of the permanent member of Security Council the country has special responsibility for maintenance international peace and security. Russia is also included in the group of countries of Great Eight. The country is the member of great number of different international organization, such as European Council and so on.. Russia carries out broad foreign policy. It maintains diplomatic relations with 178 countries and has 140 embassies. The foreign policy is controlled by the President of the country Putin V.V. and realized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

There are many religions on the territory of Russia, the main among them are Christianity, Islam.
